Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that supplies those results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the content of your message and use it to respond.
Routine Technical Data
Hosting services create ordinary logs such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of visit. We use aggregate information to operate and improve the reference. Cookies or comparable tools may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How Limited Data Is Used
Limited data helps operate the service, diagnose problems, measure traffic, and improve individual pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Who Might See Your Data
The service providers that host and support the site process server logs for us. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose data when a valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
How We Protect Your Data
The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Virginia Privacy Rights
Virginia’s Consumer Data Protection Act, Va. Code §§59.1-571 through 59.1-581, grants qualifying consumers rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy of, and opt out of specified processing of personal data held by covered businesses. Because this reference keeps very little visitor data, a request usually concerns a contact message or ordinary logs. Send a request through the Contact page. The Act does not erase records held by a Virginia court, county custodian, or library; record-specific correction, sealing, redaction, and confidentiality questions go to that custodian.
Policy Changes
We will post a revised policy here if these practices change. Continued use after publication of a revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
